CONCORD THROUGH THE YEARS
"CHRIST  IN YOU, THE HOPE OF GLORY"  Col.1:27

Concord Christian Church, nesting on a hill in the beautiful Missouri Ozarks, was born following an old fashioned prayer meeting.  Lois Abbet Eads sent a "Macedonian call"  to Ozark Christian College for a preacher.  The Lord sent a bold Bible preacher, Brother Mervyn Moberly.  On arrival, Brother Mervyn and Sister Lois knelt in prayer in the old abandoned building filled with dirt daubers, spiders and cobwebs.  They prayed for  the Lord's guidance to establish an undenominational New Testament Christian Church.  Brother Mervyn preached from September to November of 1955.  Concord Christian Church was born with God's anointing!
In November 1955, the Lord led Brother Lee A. Todd to come and minister to the Concord Christian Church.  The Lord blessed Brother Lee and his wife, Wanda, with a ministry that spanned over the next 54 years!  Brother Lee continues to deliver the message every Sunday and will continue as long as the Lord will allow.  Concord's first wedding was the marriage of Brother Lee to Wanda L. Jennings on August 22, 1958.
Concord's first Charter Member was Millie Rowland. Concord Christian Church's first Revival was held by Brother Dave Curry in 1956 that resulted in the Lord adding one dozen precious souls to his Church. Brother Curry Baptized Lee in Blackfort Creek near his childhood home, Nashoba, Oklahoma (In the Kiamichi Mountains of South East Oklahoma).
Concord emerged in 1873 following Brush Arbor and Tent Revivals. Lewis and Emma Goza deeded two acres to the Methodist Episcopal Church South and transfered ownership to the Trustees of Concord Methodist Church (Huldah Elder, Bertha Russell, and Fred Miles).
Through Brother Louis Faust's initiatiive, ownership was transferred from the Trustees of Concord Methodist Church to Concord Christian Church on September 27, 1960.
Through Lee Todd's initiative, Earl and Maybelle Matrow and Sam and Ruth Ford deeded .30 acres in front of the cemetery and church to the Concord Christian Church on August 25, 1981.
Concord's old building was remodeled with a new hardwood floor and nice vestibule by Dorlas Abbott and Dorrel Plemmons during the late 1950's.  Walter Alexander led several volunteer workers in the building of a nice new addition to Concord's old building in the early 1960's.  In October 1975,  Gene Meredith and Walter Alexander, assisted by Larry Abbott and several outstanding volunteer workers, led in the building of the new Concord Church building.
Concord's beautiful new sanctuary was dedicated to the Lord on July 4, 1976 with over 200 people attending.  In May 1991, Kenneth Luttrell and his faithful gang including his brother, David and fellow church member, Claud Byrd, led in the building of the new addition and remodeling the church basement into a nice fellowship hall.  This outstanding work was completed in 1991 and it was dedicated to Concord's youth.  During the summers of 1995 and 1996, Concord's building was completely remodeled. This work was led by Gene Meredith, Johnny Purdue and Scotty Luttrell and assisted by several volunteers including Danny Lawrence, Roger Plemmons, David Schaefer, David Rodden, Jerry Witt, David Miller, Kenneth Wall, John Stafford, Claud Rowland, Tony Luttrell, Russ Plemmons, Bill Herberger, Lee Todd, Micahel Young and sons Zachary and Joshua, David Simkins, Larry Anderson, Keith Baker, Clay Duncan, Kenneth Luttrell, Roy Gilkey, Robert Goad, Jim Harker, Lloyd Madden, Raymond and Helene York, Noel and Cleta Roberts and Family, Mark Meredith, Claude York, Tim Tucker, Michael Long, Alfred Sloan, and Tim Duncan.  This work included installing a new multi-colored, lighted steeple, constructing a huge concrete structure enclosed with brick holding a 10 foot lighted sign, a refurbished 100 year old school bell and a huge memorial stone.
The good Lord blessed Concord through the years with great spiritual leaders, including "Uncle" Ben Phillips, whose powerful prayers were easily heard far beyond the church house.  Those mighty preachers, teachers and dedicated Christian families of yesteryear kept that old lighthouse shining from that little hill, and many hungry and thirsty souls were saved and revived.  Through the years, Concord was blessed with many faithful teachers such as Brother Louis Faust, Sister Lois Eads, Otey Jennings, Clyde Jennings, Wanda Todd, Ruby Mashburn, Dorlas Abbott, Goldie Alexander, Nora Hagan, Walter Jones, Leonard Ashmore, Alick Rowland, Dorrel Plemmons, Clay and Nadine Duncan, Evelyn Moneymaker, Kaye Looney, Larry and Sharon Abbott, Brother Larry and Sister Josie Young, Farris Whittle, Pamela Luttrell, William Goad, Mary Duncan, Terry Pahlman, Mary Simkins, Freddie And Judy Earp, Bill Herberger, Charles"Chuck" Etheridge, Ferd Ashmore and Ron King.
The elders were Otey Jennings, Clyde Jennings, William Griffin and Charlie Whittle.  The deacons were Clay Duncan, Alick Rowland and Leonard Ashmore. (All now promoted to Heaven)

Our current minister, teachers, trustees, musicians, treasurer and custodian are pictured in the directory.
Through the years, hundreds of lost souls accepted Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior and were baptized in nearby rivers and streams.  Concord has been a "lighthouse for souls" for 136 years!  The good Lord's mighty anointing hand has been upon this country church.
May the good Lord continue to bless Concord Christian Church with many saved souls until Jesus comes.
Concord's purpose and goal is " CHRIST IN YOU, THE HOPE OF GLORY". Col. 1:27
